The term "death" is being used too vaguely. (Or else I am misunderstanding.) Do you think that a gene replicating and then dying (while its offspring survives) is "death?" A "refutation?"

Or do you mean "total elimination of the allele" as "death" or "refutation?"

In addition to scarcity, you have to assume unbounded growth of the population in an ecosystem, which does not happen.

Scarcity of resources should not be assumed. You want underlying necessity of the mechanism, not a strained analogy. There is no scarcity for idea resources.

Natural selection requires differential replication, not death. (Death is just an form of extreme differential replication, when compared to any allele that does replicate.)

Have you fully used your cash to free time/energy after work?

You may have money for laundry services, cleaning, cooking, and so on. All the other things that take time in your day can be removed with money, giving you space to do research just fine

Leaving the job means more time for research. It also means more time to find a much better job that allows you the energy for research.

Leaving gives space for better balance.

Consider your current balance of working and research.

Could you cut other activities, keep the job, and increase focus on research?
